Canon announces super-zoom compact

Canon has revealed details of its latest update to the travel friendly PowerShot SX series – the PowerShot SX730 HS.

Canon says the new compact boasts a 40x zoom lens (with 80x ZoomPlus), 20.3 MP CMOS sensor with DiGiC 6 processor and the capability of continuous shooting at 5.9 frames per second.

Canon says the camera's Zoom Framing Assist tracks and focuses on the subject even during telephoto shooting.

The versatility of the PowerShot SX730 HS as a travel camera is sure to be enhanced by its ultra-wide angle 40X optical zoom, which has a 35mm equivalent range of 24-960mm.

The camera also assists selfie shooters via the rear 7.5cm LCD screen which tilts up to 180 degrees.

To enhance shared images the PowerShot SX730 HS features a Creative Shot Mode which automatically creates five additional versions of a single image with a variety of filters and effects. Also available is Short Clip Movie mode which captures four or five second Full HD clips with a variety of playback options, including slow and fast motion.

Via Bluetooth the camera can be connected to smart phones for easy transfer of photos using the Canon Camera Connect App, which also provides wireless remote shooting.
