Canon announce PowerShot SX70 HS superzoom camera

Canon has introduced its latest superzoom, the PowerShot SX70 HS.

The SX70 HS has a 20.3MP BSI-CMOS sensor paired with Canon's latest Digic 8 processor and offers the same 21-1365mm equivalent focal range at F3.4-6.5 as the SX60. Inside however there's a new image processor that has improved stabilisation of up to five stops.

On the exterior, the major notable change from the SX60 is the lack of a hot shoe, and the addition of a zoom switch on the lens barrel. The electronic viewfinder is an OLED with 2.36 million dots, compared to the 922k dot LCD in the SX60.

The SX70 HS is able to shoot bursts at 10 fps with focus locked, or 5.7 fps with continuous AF.

There's also 4K, although this is at 30p/120Mbps.

The PowerShot SX70 HS will be available from November, with local prices TBC. However in the US it is expected to retail for $549 ($755AUD).
